Autumn, season of a sea of vibrant, but falling, muted colors, school time, and the time to dig out the jackets (unless you live at 7500 feet), of great eating at Thanksgiving, and a candy stash at Halloween.
The time of harvest, before supermarket days when Arizona, California, and Florida didn't grow fresh food all winter.
And most importantly its FOOTBALL SEASON.
BYU-59, UCLA-0
Missed the first half, but didn't need to really see that part, since they were up 42-0 at halftime.
Complete domination, the kicker was so scared he missed an easy 3 points, and that was the closest they got in the second half. The second half wasn't even ugly or disputable, no holding calls on big plays, or the like.
In Montana, where I am still working, everyone has a team. Most have a college team,Scott, my boss and cousin, follows WVU, but is also a Steeler. Both of Scott's Grampas, worked in the steel industry in Pittsburgh, though he grew up in West Virginia, and he's not alone up here as a Steeler.
For college, it was easy, BYU, was my team and (despite a certain heretic) my family's. But I didn't really have a Pro team until this year. When asked, I always said that I liked the college game better, which is true, but I wasn't really decided.
Then I watched MNF two weeks ago, and saw an excellent team, with strong offense, and a quick defense, though me and ten friends could have played even with this years Raiders.
And then this week, a gutsy coach proved his confidence in his job security, by going for two, and winning, instead of overtime. The pro game doesn't have the same appeal, but its more recognizable.
So while the Steelers might have 5 rings, I'm going to have to side with my Grandmother, and my Brother-in-law, and my blaspheming sister, and say at least for now.
Go Bronco's!

Nice blog. September has been so beautiful here in Utah. Can't wait to see you. Hey, I grew up in Colorado, what the heck, I might as well be a Bronco fan too. Wahoo!
Hi, Tom! Nice to hear from you. Miss you!
Nice to read from a BYU and Broncos fan. I love cinnamon. I loved Apple Cinnamon Chereos. The milk always tasted so good.
